On the 23rd of May 2015 the Kanonkop District had its annual Catapult Event for the Scouts of the Northern Suburbs. The event was hosted by the Kanonkop District Rover Crew as part of a Task for one of our recruits to become a Rover (Nicolene Hellstrom). The competition aim required scouts to construct catapults out of ropes and poles and then shoot water balloons at targets. This is one of the fun and exciting Scouting events used to develop the Scouts leadership skills, teamwork, pioneering abilities and hand-eye co-ordination. Nicolene Hellstrom (Chief Judge of the event) was very happy with the turnout of scouts, despite the rainy weather conditions. The day was a great success as scouts and parents alike laughed and cheered as waterballoons were fired. Teamwork, camaraderie and healthy competition were the main themes of the day, as the scouts competed for bragging rights and the floating trophy. We would like to thank all the parents for their support on the day as well as the municipality for the use of their field and Marks Paints for sponsoring this event.
