ABOUT

This is always a difficult question to answer for some reason. I suppose it is because there is not just one answer and it is hard to put all the amazing stuff we do into one or two sentences. At our core we are much like scouts but we are now adults so we bear some more responsibilities, like helping at scout events and serving our communities Our Motto is 'Service'. We have three areas of service namely service to self, scouts and community. This is what our activities are based on. So service to self would be advancing ourselves by doing courses and having socials to relax and doing many adventurous activities like hiking. Then service to scouting will include helping and running badge courses and competitions for the province and in our districts. And finally but not the least by far, we have service to community which includes helping our communities in many different ways and giving back to those who need it. We also have competitions to create some rivalry between the crews and also just to have some good fun.

Rovers can also be explained as an self-governing crew as part of an overall scout group, either one that is based locally in the Rover’s hometown, or the nationwide 1st Lone Scouts group under the direction of Scott Moore. The Rover motto is simply “Service,” and it is put into practice both in the group and the community.

The Kanonkop District Rover Crew was established on the 21 April 2012 opened by Jason Tyler

Kanonkop Rovers are part of the third and final branch of the Scouting Movement designed for 18 to 30 year olds. According to the PO&R, “Rover Scouting is a Brotherhood of the open air and of service, the purposes of which are: to provide encouragement for the self-training of Rovers in Citizenship and service; to encourage Rovers to pursue careers useful to themselves, and to render service to the Scout Movement and the Community”.

The Kanonkop District Rover Crew strives for continuous adventure through various exciting outdoor activities. The Rover Crew aims to aid the scouting community on a provincial and district level until an extent and engages in community service projects. The Rover Crew ultimately provides exciting interesting learning experience for young adults to grow and prosper.
