Kanonkop Catapult Events

 

Construction

Patrols are required to Construct Catapults only using 12 Poles (Staves) and 12 Ropes (Any Length), Patrols are allowed any design as creativity factors into the overall score. The Catapult is required to shoot waterballoons therefore needs to have a waterballoon holder and a durable elastic.

 

Event 1: Accuracy Event

Each Patrol will get 3 attempts to launch their waterballoons, we will be judging on the accuracy of the waterballoons. When we call your patrol number please line up and prepare to shoot, the judge will let you know when to fire and will mark the points at which the waterballoons land. Note that we do take safety into consideration so please ensure the bungee cord is tied tightly and the launch pad is secure. Pl’s please allow more than one Patrol member an attempt to shoot the waterballoons.

 

Event 2: Distance Event

Each Patrol will once again get 3 attempts to launch their waterballoons, we will be judging on the distance of the waterballoons and mark the points at which the Balloons land. When we call your patrol number please line up and prepare to shoot, the judge will let you know when to fire. Note that we do take safety into consideration so please ensure the bungee cord is tied tightly and the launch pad is secure. Pl’s please allow more than one Patrol member an attempt to shoot the waterballoons.

 

Event 3: The Catapult Race

This year we will be trying a new event called the Catapult Race. Patrols will line up at the start line and will then fire your waterballoons. Once you have fired, you will need to lift up your catapult and run to the point at which your Catapult has landed, from there you will fire again until you have reached the finish line. Note that we do take safety into consideration so please ensure the bungee cord is tied tightly and the launch pad is secure. Pl’s please allow more than one Patrol member an attempt to shoot the waterballoons.

 

Event 4: Battle of the Catapults

Each Patrol will be allocated a block, the patrols are allowed to fire waterballoons at the patrols. We will be scoring the amount of hits on the patrol members and the actual catapults. Note that we do take safety into consideration so please ensure the bungee cord is tied tightly and the launch pad is secure. Pl’s please allow more than one Patrol member an attempt to shoot the waterballoons.
